On January 4, 2017, PSU Faculty of Medicine’s expert in cardiology and pediatrics Dr. Supaporn Roymanee and team demonstrated, via live video conference, heart disease treatment by inserting a device to repair the heart through a catheter. The procedure was witnessed by physicians and cardiologists from several countries around the world.

Dr. Supaporn explained that congenital heart disease can be treated without surgery, thus avoiding the need for large chest incisions for artificial heart and lung machines. As a result, convalescence and length of stay at the hospital can be shortened.

More than 2,500 patients benefited from this procedure at Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Heart Center since 2002. The Heart Center is one of the most internationally-recognized and trusted institutions by physicians around the world for the purpose of training and treatment practice.

The primary aim of this conference was the exchange of medical knowledge and practical treatment experience among expert teams around the world. The new perspectives offered through this conference were appreciated by both organizers and attendees.

Dr. Supaporn Roymanee expressed his satisfaction and pride in being involved with this conference, having the opportunity to present Prince of Songkla University as one of the leading hospitals in patient treatment and cardiologist physician training worldwide.
