Sixteen PSU delegates, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chutamas Satasook, PSU Vice President for Academic Affairs, visited the Kingdom of Bahrain on 21-23 March 2017. This academic visit had two main objectives. Firstly, PSU attended the 5th Bahrain Education and Training Exhibition (EDUTEX'17) at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center on 21-23 March. This exhibition was highly successful, since PSU – as the only Thai university in the event – received a positive response from high school students and undergraduate students both from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the eastern province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They were mostly interested in furthering their studies in the fields of Medicine, Business, Digital Media, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Engineering, Nutrition, Nursing, and Dentistry, as well as in attending summer schools at PSU (Thai Cultural Camp, Tourism Summer School).

The second objective was to discuss medical and public health cooperation with five institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain. On 22-23 March, H.E. Mr. Chayapan Bamrungphong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Kingdom of Bahrain, kindly led the PSU delegation to meet with senior officials from the Bahrain Supreme Council of Health, Ministry of Health, Arabian Gulf University, King Hamad University Hospital and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce.

Prince of Songkla University is interested in creating and developing medical and public health cooperation at all levels, as well as in establishing research collaboration between its Faculty of Medicine and the Hospitals Network in the Kingdom of Bahrain. PSU plans to initiate cooperation with the Medical Training Center in Bahrain by offering highly specialized and reputable international short- and long-term fellowship training courses, along with student and staff exchange programs and joint research programs.
