On 17 June 2023, PSU, in partnership with the Embassy of India in Thailand, held the 2023 International Day of Yoga event on Hat Yai Campus to promote good health and increase awareness of yogic practices.
PSU President Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, accompanied by Asst. Prof Dr. Wongkot Phuphumiarat, Assistant President for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janya Chanchaichujit, Assistant President for Promotion of Foreign Affairs; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Teerasak Jindabot, Director of the Center for Global Affairs and Corporate Communications, attended the event, along with PSU personnel, students and interested yoga practitioners.
The early-morning yoga activity was led by Mr. Rahul Autade, a renowned yoga expert invited by the Embassy of India. A professional trainer, Mr. Rahul has a Master’s in Yogic Sciences from Kavi Kalidas Sanskrit University, India, and has won multiple yoga championships at the national level. The activity was conducted in a relaxed yet professional way, enjoyable by beginners and experts alike.
At the end of the yoga practice, participants were rewarded by delicious Indian treats and tea, prepared by the Indian Student Association especially for the event.
In 2014, the United Nations has designated June 21 as International Yoga Day. PSU, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Thailand, held the first International Day of Yoga on 23 June 2019, on Hat Yai Campus. These events serve as a venue to promote yoga practice and the benefits of yoga, developed more than 2,000 years ago for healing both body and mind, relieving various sources of pain, assisting in burning energy, calming the mind, relieving stress, and enhancing mediative practices.ดี
