The number of obesity patients in Thailand has been increasing in recent years, leading to various chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood lipids, cancer, dyspnea and sleep apnea, leading to loss of life.
Recognizing the importance of addressing the rise of overweight and obesity, Songklanagarind Hospital has provided examination and surgery to more than 500 obese surgical patients over the last eight years. The center also provides holistic and comprehensive care for complications or joint diseases caused by obesity, with the main goal to restore the patient's health and quality of life, not focusing on beauty treatment, the physician explained.
Dr. Kamthorn has received positive feedback since treatment of obese patients has started. Patients lose approximately 30% of their initial weight on average, and their quality of life after surgery improves greatly. Patients are able to help themselves and their family, while existing disease symptoms improve as well.
