Congratulations to Prof. Dr. David W. C. MacMillan, winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2021

 

     Prince of Songkla University congratulates Prof. Dr. David W. C. MacMillan, scientist at Princeton University, USA, announced as the winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2021 for the discovery of asymmetric organocatalysis, together with Prof. Dr. Benjamin List from Germany. Their breakthrough work enables researchers to more efficiently construct molecules that can form elastic and durable materials, store energy in batteries, or inhibit the progression of diseases.

       Prof. Dr. David W. C. MacMillan is a world-class scientist in chemistry, whose excellence was recognized by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana at the opening ceremony of Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference 2018 (PACCON 2018) on 7 February 2018. During the event, organized by the PSU Faculty of Science on 7-8 February 2018, Dr. Macmillan was invited for a plenary lecture and gave a talk on the topic of “new photoredox reactions”, providing the participants with the latest information and an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with local and international scientists in the field of chemistry.
