His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, kindly appointed H.E. Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh, the Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to graciously preside over the official Opening Ceremony of “His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa” Bahrain Information Center, at the Office of Academic Resources, Prince of Songkla University (PSU) Pattani Campus, on 12 September 2018. Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, PSU President, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Imjit Lertpongsombat, Vice President for Pattani Campus, government representatives and PSU administrators, lecturers, and students, attended this auspicious event.
The PSU President expressed his appreciation for the royal grace of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, generously granting the fund to support PSU missions. He was also very delighted that Her Excellency Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain visited PSU to kindly preside over the opening of the Bahrain Information Center.
The President pointed out that, in accordance with both His Royal Highness’ guiding principles and the vision of PSU, the generous royal fund has been allocated to support a number of objectives, including to financially support children from poor and underprivileged families in rural areas, under the PSU’s Saplings Scholarships project, for them to study until the completion of their Bachelor’s degrees at PSU; and to strengthen the education for students in need at PSU. A significant portion of the fund supports activities under the principle “Our Soul is for the Benefit of Mankind”, including the establishment of a Bahrain Information Center honorably holding the name of “His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa,” which was graciously granted by His Royal Highness. Finally, the royal fund also covers provisions for the cooperation with universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and for graduate thesis scholarships to study about the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Assoc. Prof. Imjit Lertpongsombat, Vice President for Pattani Campus, delivered the speech reporting the background of John F. Kennedy Library, the main library of the campus, located at the Office of Academic Resources. She noted that the Bahrain Information Center was established at this library in October 2017, in order to support a mission under university’s motto “Our Soul is for the Benefit of Mankind”, and to be an information learning center about the Kingdom of Bahrain and countries in Middle East Region. The Office of Academic Resources has an academic support section with the role to provide, develop, and serve information resources for learning and research to cover all instruction curriculums at Pattani Campus. The informative materials available at Bahrain Information Center, in a 384-square-meter reading area, include books, e-books, and online databases.
H. E. Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh, Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain, honorably delivered the opening speech for the “His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa” Bahrain Information Center, noting the wise leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman, who shed plenty of real successful projects, which he either initiated or took the initiative to support, in the fields of health, education, information, economy, and more. Her excellency also mentioned that throughout the history, the Kingdom of Bahrain has always been among the first to support every initiative that contributes to the development of mankind, whether inside or outside the country.
At the end of the event, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed to unveil the sign of the “His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa” Bahrain Information Center at the Office of Academic Resources, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus.
