Prince of Songkla University, in cooperation with Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), has established a new PSU cultural and language program called Basic Indonesian Class. The main objective of this ambitious project was to promote Bahasa Indonesia, one of the important languages used in the ASEAN community, as well as to encourage PSU students to experience Indonesian culture from a native perspective.
The program consisted of two periods: June 24-28, and July 29-August 3, 2019. UNAIR provided valuable support by sending three native experts to teach Indonesian language and share the fundamental aspects of Indonesian culture with interested PSU staff and students.
PSU was honored to have Mr. Fachry Sulaiman, the Consul at the Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia in Songkhla, to officially open the event by delivering an inspirational opening speech.
This unique Indonesian cultural and language program drew considerable interest from PSU staff and students on the five PSU campuses, as nearly 60 participants attended the program. The attendees have appreciated the knowledge and insight they have gained about Indonesian language and culture, fostering a greater sense of belonging in the ASEAN community.
