“What is Authentic Thai?”
PSU Authentic Thai Camp 2018 was an eye-opening experience to learn about
The “Land of Smiles”.
The PSU International Affairs Office invited students from partner universities to participate in the ‘PSU Authentic Thai Camp 2018’ from August 19 – September 1, 2018. This camp was held with the objective to provide the opportunity for the 24 participants from Japan and China to learn about the unique Thai culture with the great support of the Thai buddies all the way through the camp.
During this outstanding summer program, the Japanese and Chinese students had the chance to enhance their skills by participating in various activities and classes, such as Thai language, cooking, traditional medicine, boxing, music, dancing, Thai way of life and environment, as well as a visit to a local village to learn about Thai people’s daily life. This remarkable camp, with enjoyable and inspiring activities also highlighted the beautiful aspect of cultural exchange where people from different cultures came across and spent cherished time together. Participants showed mutual respect for one another and everyone felt as if they were one big family. Learning about Thai culture was extremely mind-refreshing as it gave participants different perspectives of undertaking everyday tasks.
All participants enjoyed this camp filled with thrilling and exhilarating events such as a 3-day trip to Krabi province with a wide variety of activities, including snorkeling around the wonderful islands of the southern Thailand. In addition, they experienced a visit to the famous Krabi night market, relaxing time on the beautiful beach and enjoyed the wonderful emerald pool, one of the unseen Thailand spots with underground natural spring water.
The duration of the program was two magnificent weeks for a cultural camp filled with beautiful moments and memories of a life time. This fantastic camp is now part of all participants’ memories and great feelings, and this is the “Authentic Thai”!
