A delegation, led by PSU President Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, visited Riau University (UNRI), Riau, and Syiah Kuala University (UNSYIAH), Aceh, from 10 to 14 December 2020. The objectives of this visit were to renew university-level Memorandums of Understanding between PSU and the two universities, as well as to define a joint research collaboration framework, which will strengthen the cooperation between PSU and Indonesian universities, and enhance the close relationship between the two countries.

The Memorandum of Understanding between UNRI and PSU has been successfully signed by Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Aras Mulyadi, Rector, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President, to mark a milestone in tightening the relationship between the two universities. Moreover, four PSU experts and researchers had the opportunity to share their research work with the UNRI administrative team and staff. The research work, related to haze management, was the following:
- “Research Methodology for Haze in Southeast Asia” presented by Dr. Alisa Hasamoh, Lecturer, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
- “Medical Data Sciences” presented by Prof. Virasakdi Chongsuvivatwong, M.D., Professor, Epidemiology Unit, Faculty of Medicine
- “Haze Episodes in Southeast Asia and Transboundary Aerosol Transport Affecting Air Quality in Southern Thailand” presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Perapong Tekasakul, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, in cooperation with Dr. Thammasin Ingviya,Lecturer, Faculty of Medicine
Syiah Kuala University
The Memorandum of Understanding between UNSYIAH and PSU at the university level has been successfully signed by Prof. Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, Rector, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, President. This visit broadens the opportunities for lecturers of both universities to initiate joint research about cannabis and neuroscience, in addition to academic staff exchange in the fields of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Science and Technology. Moreover, the Aceh government aims to strengthen the relationship with PSU by upgrading the Letter of Intent signed in 2010 between the two parties to be a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a five-year duration.
