The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is a famous world universities’ ranking from United Kingdom, which uses an interactive ranking table to explore world’s top universities, with options to see the ranking by country, region or subject area. The QS has announced the ranking of leading universities in Asia, with a total of 350 ranks, inclusive of 13 universities in Thailand, as follows:
- PSU is ranked number 8 in Thailand, while Chulalongkorn University leads the Thai ranking.
- PSU is the185th in Asia, while the National University of Singapore is ranked number one.
- Worldwide, PSU is ranked in the 701+ group, while Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States is 1st in the world.
If we compare the last year’s ranking in Asia, Prince of Songkla University's ranking improved from level 191-200 last year to be the 185th this year. Also, the overall number of Thai universities to join the ranking has increased and their positions improved comparing with the last year’s statistics.
The Thai leading universities ranked by QS Asia 2016 University Ranking include Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, Thammasat University, Chiang Mai University, Kasetsart University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Khon Kaen University, Prince of Songkla University, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Suranaree University of Technology, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, Srinakharinwirot University and Naresuan University.
It was revealed that among the top five most competitive faculties in Thailand are also the PSU Faculty of Education and Faculty of Dentistry with a competitive rate of 1:38. Also in the top ten most popular faculties in Thailand for candidate students, PSU is ranked the 6th with its Faculty of Science having a total of candidates of 1,183 people and the Faculty of Nursing ranked 9th with a number of candidates of 1,150 people.
