Two students majoring in Materials Technology and Packaging at the Faculty of Agro-Industry of Prince of Songkla University (PSU), namely Mr. Meta Nilaroon and Ms. Manee Sae-Sum, won prizes at the WorldStar Packaging Award 2017 (International Packaging Design Student Competition South Africa 2017) and AsiaStar Awards 2017. Their works are called "Katokrok Plus" and "Manee Mee Mai" respectively.
Dr. Supachai Pisuchpen, Head of the Department of Material Product Technology, PSU Faculty of Agro-Industry, said that the faculty has supported students to create works of excellence, via both teaching and participating in international level competitions and in packaging design contests every year. This year, our students won all three prizes that are AsiaStar Awards 2017, WorldStar Student South Africa 2017 and ThaiStar Packaging Award 2017, the later organized by the Department of Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry. Dr. Somporn Nilmanee, Packaging Design Instructor for Award Winning Students, said that the product presented at the AsiaStar Awards 2017 is the packaging for sale and transportation category.
PSU students won prizes at the national packaging contest, ThaiStar Packaging Award, held last year, and at the WorldStar Packaging Award and AsiaStar Packaging Award for two consecutive years, in 2016 and 2017.
In 2017, PSU students won the 2nd prize in the WorldStar Packaging Award for their works called "Katokrok Plus", which is a package of kitchen wares, and "Manee Mee Mai”, which is a packaging for wooden bowls for children.
