Once again, it was a great opportunity for Prince of Songkla University to be a co-organizer of the AFLES program, specifically for the 5th ASEAN Future Leaders Summit (AFLES 2017), which was a fourteen-day exciting program for student leaders from universities in the ASEAN region, as well as other universities around the world. This is the fourth endeavour in bringing partner universities under one program, aiming to enrich their students with leadership capabilities. This program intended to create a networking platform for participants to share ideas and knowledge on critical issues of higher education, leadership and student participation to aid in policy making and create a sustainable tomorrow for the young generation.
Concerning PSU, there were 23 students from Hat Yai and Pattani campuses selected to participate in this program held from 31 July – 13 August 2017. During the program, all participants had the chance to attend a wide variety of leadership lectures and visit many Malaysian tourist attractions, such as Kuala Lumpur Petronas Towers, Putrajaya, Shah Alam I-city, and Mekala city. They also participated in activities and visited some interesting places in Thailand, as for instance, the Crab Bank in Singhanakorn, Songkhla province, and Krajood Varni Handicraft Center in Patthalung province.
In addition, there was a presentation session titled “Community Services” for all delegates to show what exactly and how they did community services to serve the society. Also a stage for each country’s delegates was made available, in order for them to present their own country’s culture via exhibitions and performances.
