PSU co-organized the 10th Keepro Hat Yai International Badminton Sawasdee Cup 2023

PSU, in collaboration with the FYC Badminton Club; the Sports Authority of Thailand, Songkhla Province; the Tourism Authority of Thailand; and Hat Yai Municipality, organized the 10th Keepro Hat Yai International Badminton Sawasdee Cup 2023, with Mr. Korn Dabbaransi, former Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Ahmad Ben Ali, Deputy Mayor of Hat Yai City; Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, PSU President; and representatives from relevant agencies in attendance at the PSU Sports Complex, Hat Yai Campus, on 29 September 2023.

The 10th Keepro Hat Yai International Badminton Sawasdee Cup 2023 was the largest badminton competition in Thailand, held between 29 September and 1 October 2023 at PSU’s Hat Yai Campus. Over 1,300 athletes participated in the competition from 19 countries around the world: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, China, India, Australia, the United States, Sweden, Germany, Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Bangladesh, Croatia and Brunei.

The competition was organized under the concept of “Sport for All”, to encourage people to exercise and join the competition. The competition was divided into professional, general and amateur categories, with each category further divided into five subcategories: singles, doubles, mixed doubles, couples (husband-wife), and mixed open. The oldest participant was 87 years old, and famous badminton athletes also participated in this competition.

This event was supported by Hat Yai District in a move to turn Hat Yai into a “Sport City”, taking advantage of its wonderful natural surroundings and plethora of cultural attractions, such as the Hat Yai cable car, Phra Mahathat Chedi Traiphop Traimongkon, Gim Yong Market, Songkhla Central Mosque, Khlong Hae Floating Market, Kho Hong Mountain Viewpoint, Bodhisattva Guan Yin, Wat Khok Saman Khun Temple, Mahattamangkhalaram Temple (Hat Yai Nai Temple), Ton Nga Chang Waterfall, and Hat Yai Railway Station.
