PSU hosts cultural exchange activities with GDUT and JXUST to strengthen relationships with universities in China

 

   From 16 to 23 July 2023, PSU’s Global Affairs and Corporate Communications Center hosted  staff and student exchange programs with two universities in China. The delegation from Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT), led by Mr. Cai Jian, Teacher, Students' Affairs Officer; and from Jiangxi University of Science and Technology (JXUST), led by Prof. Wang Fengsuo, Director, Office of United Front Work, was warmly welcomed on PSU’s Hat Yai Campus by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janya Chanchaichujit, Assistant President for Promotion of Foreign Affairs.  The program aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences, cultures, and languages between the staff and students of Prince of Songkla University and those of foreign universities, particularly in the People's Republic of China. In this event, over 40 participants had the opportunity to learn about coexistence in different societies or cultures, fostering cooperation and strong relationships with partner universities abroad. 

    As part of the project, Chinese students engaged in a variety of activities centered around Thai culture and traditions, such as learning Thai language, crafting scented candles, creating Thai handicrafts, cooking Thai desserts, and learning about Thai music and dance.

 

     The three participating institutions have also organized the cultural exchange event “Sino-Thai Carnival” on 21 July 2023. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janya Chanchaichujit, Assistant President for Promotion of Foreign Affairs, has opened the event at the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Cultural Studies at PSU. The Sino-Thai Carnival brought together university students and staff, along with secondary school students from Phiman Phittayasan School, Navamindharajudis Taksin School, Mahavajiravudh School, Hatyaiwittayalai School, and Sadao Khanchai Kamphalanon Anusorn School. Participants enjoyed performances presented by students from each of the three collaborating institutions in a friendly international atmosphere.
