Trang Campus architecture student won logo design contest "10 years of Samui Architects"

Mr. Nattaporn Wattatham, a fifth-year student at the Faculty of Architecture, PSU Trang Campus, won a logo design contest themed "10 years of Samui Architects". The talented student received a 6,000-baht cash prize and a certificate.

Mr. Nattaporn explained that the support he received from lecturers and friends at the faculty encouraged him to submit his work to the contest. To tackle the challenging aspects of the contest, the student drew up many designs to best represent the Samui Architects group, which has created several works of art in the last ten years.

In the winning design, the student used the house symbol as a storytelling concept, by drawing a continuous line starting from a small house to form a larger one. Moreover, the overall shape of the logo resembles both the Thai alphabet “ส” – the first letter of the word “architect” in Thai – and the number ten in Thai to mark the 10th anniversary of the group. Finally, the long continuous line that makes up the entire artwork represents the ongoing creativity of the Samui Architects for the past decade and beyond.

The logo’s blue and brown color scheme was also carefully selected: blue represents Koh Samui’s blue sea, while brown represents the architecture of Koh Samui, an island in the middle of the Gulf of Thailand, consisting of both land and sea.
