Academic conference on promoting sustainable tourism, agriculture, and bio-based industries hosted by Surat Thani Campus

On August 30, 2024, PSU, Surat Thani Campus, hosted the 2nd Sustainability for Tourism, Agriculture, and Bio-industry (S-TAB) Conference, themed “Wellness & Aging Society”. The event was graced by Mr. Bundan Sathirachawal, Deputy Governor of Surat Thani Province, who delivered the opening address. Assoc. Prof. Suchada Thipmontri, Vice President of PSU, Surat Thani Campus, gave the report speech, while Dr. Natthanitcha Singburaudom, Senior Manager of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Southern Region, delivered a speech in support of the event.

The event aimed to stimulate and promote the creation of valuable research, both in generating new knowledge and applying it effectively. It provided a platform for researchers and students to showcase their work to a wider audience, fostering collaboration to enhance the practical use of research in solving problems and driving development across various sectors. Additionally, the conference offered an opportunity for researchers to exchange experiences, contributing to the planning and execution of high-quality research projects.

During the event, a MOU was signed between PSU, Surat Thani Campus, represented by Assoc. Prof. Suchada Thipmontri, Vice President of Surat Thani Campus, and a collaborating agency represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sate Sampattagul, Head of the Energy Management and Ecological Economics Research Unit from Chiang Mai University. This partnership aims to strengthen collaboration in research and initiatives related to sustainable tourism, agriculture, and bio-based industries.

Additionally, the event featured a special lecture titled "How to Retire with Happiness" by Ms. Seetala Chanvised, a consultant and marketing expert. There were also panel discussions and workshops, including “Farm to Table for Aging Society” and a showcase titled “Net Zero Industrial: A Future Global Society." Furthermore, an academic presentation on “Tourism and Aging Society” was held, with selected works slated for publication in the academic journal of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at PSU, indexed in the TCI database. The event also showcased an exhibition of various local products from communities in Surat Thani Province.
