Prince of Songkla University has been selected by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia to host Indonesian students through its Kampus Merdeka Program. This government initiative awards scholarships to Indonesian students to spend one semester at universities abroad. PSU is the only university from Thailand selected to participate in the program, along with 59 other universities from 28 countries.
Kampus Merdeka students will be hosted by PSU’s trusted-quality BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) English Program at the Faculty of Management Science, Hat Yai Campus, for one semester in academic year 2021. Through the course, students explore relevant subjects such as business organization management, organizational behavior, financial management, marketing management, management information systems, administrative decisions, comparison management, seminars on business management problems, and small and medium enterprise management (SME).
This partnership represents a significant milestone in PSU’s long history of strong academic cooperation with more than 70 Indonesian universities amidst ongoing activities through international cooperation networks such as AUN and IMT-GT UNINET.
The Kampus Merdeka Program was created by the government of Indonesia under the concept of giving academic autonomy and freedom to educational institutions to prepare personnel who can respond to future work changes, connecting with the world of business and industry. Universities must therefore be able to design and use innovative learning environments to enable students to achieve their learning goals, including obtaining appropriate attitudes and skills in work and life, through an independent and flexible tertiary learning model to provide an innovative learning culture that is in line with learners’ needs. Student exchange programs with quality universities abroad is one of the initiatives that attract the students’ attention, as they will gain additional knowledge in a new atmosphere. The program’s operational framework has been outlined by the collaboration agreement of the government, and is based on the results of a research study.
