Prince of Songkla University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the subject “Cooperation in education, research and innovation in Thai Space Technology”. Other participating institutions are the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), National Astronomical Research Institute (NARIT), Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI), Suranaree University of Technology, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, National Innovation Agency, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Kasetsart University, Mahidol University, National Science and Technology Development Agency, and the National Institute of Nuclear Technology, with Adjunct Professor Dr. Anek Laothammatas, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, as the chairperson and witness.  PSU President Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub signed the MoU in Bangkok at The Sukosol Hotel’s Kamolthip Room on 5 April 2021.

The cooperation provides an opportunity for a group of experts, scientist, and junior engineers to jointly develop and build a small satellite using knowledge, learning, implementation, testing and control of the applications by Thai experts, including the design and build of payload devices such as multiple-wavelength cameras, which can be applied in the field of agriculture, enabling the efficient use of population area and atmosphere.

All 12 institutions will play a role in supporting the work of the consortium in five specified frameworks: engineering, applications, research and development, academic support, and industrial support. Each institution commits its infrastructure, laboratories, expertise, and manpower to the ambitious project.
